Description:
Tender cabbage, shelf-stable gnocchi, Parmesan, and a lighter Alfredo sauce bake into a practical comfort dinner with crisp golden edges.
Ingredients:
- 1.00 Tablespoon olive oil
- 1.00 Tablespoon lemon juice
- 3.00 Clove garlic
- 0.75 Teaspoon black pepper
- 0.75 Cup heavy cream
- 1.00 Cup Parmesan cheese
- 2.00 Tablespoon unsalted butter
- 0.50 Cup milk
- 6.00 Cup green cabbage
- 16.00 Ounce shelf-stable gnocchi
Instructions:
- Heat the oven to 425 F.
- Warm olive oil and butter in a large oven-safe skillet over medium heat.
- Add cabbage and 1 teaspoon salt, then cook for 8 to 10 minutes, until wilted and lightly golden at the edges.
- Stir in garlic for 30 seconds, then add cream, milk, Parmesan, lemon juice, and black pepper.
- Fold in gnocchi and simmer for 2 minutes, adding a splash of water if the sauce looks tight.
- Bake for 14 to 16 minutes, until bubbling and browned in spots.
- Rest for 5 minutes before serving so the sauce can settle.
Notes:
- Use a wide skillet so the cabbage browns instead of steaming.
- If using frozen gnocchi, add 2 to 3 minutes to the bake time.
- A squeeze of lemon at the table keeps the sauce from feeling heavy.
